Description from the seller
Tamaki Ogawa – 1997 is a rare photo book featuring Japanese actress Tamaki Ogawa, photographed by acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle, internationally renowned for his work on Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express (恋する惑星) and Fallen Angels (天使の涙).
Photographed in Hong Kong shortly before the 1997 handover, the book captures the charged and atmospheric mood of the city at a historic turning point.
The book features over 100 color photographs, accompanied by essays, and represents a particularly interesting collaboration between a Japanese actress and one of the most celebrated cinematographers associated with Hong Kong cinema.
A particularly desirable feature of this copy is that it includes the original obi (belly band), Tamaki Ogawa’s letter, and a postcard. The letter was included as a limited first-edition bonus, making the complete set especially appealing to collectors.
Doyle’s distinctive visual style, associated with the celebrated films of Wong Kar-wai, gives this photobook a strong cinematic character.
