Description from the seller
This pile consists of British pound banknotes issued in Scotland (Scottish Pound). They are not part of the British Pound issued by the Bank of England; they are issued by two established commercial banks in Scotland: Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).
>
> Additional information: The Scottish region of Britain has the right to authorize local banks to issue banknotes, which are legal tender throughout the UK and have the same value as the English pound. Nowadays, 1-pound banknotes have been discontinued and are considered collectible old notes.
Identification of the banknotes in the images
1) Bank of Scotland (with Sir Walter Scott on the note)
- Upper left: Bank of Scotland 10 Pounds – The portrait is that of Walter Scott; issued in Edinburgh.
- Lower left: Bank of Scotland 5 Pounds – Also featuring Walter Scott’s portrait.
2) Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) (two different versions)
RBS has two types of 1-pound banknotes, which can be easily distinguished:
Version A: Light green color, with a portrait of the Marquess of Lothian on the front
In the image, there are three consecutive serial numbers in vertical order: C/92 244248, 244249, 244250. These are early RBS 1-pound banknotes from that era.

- Upper right: RBS Limited 1-pound banknote (old signature version)
- Lower right: RBS plc 1-pound banknote (version after the company’s name change)
In the middle of the left side: RBS Limited 5 Pounds (Five Pounds, with a shield emblem)
Total number of banknotes
