Silver - China - Early 20th century

A very beautiful and elegantly designed antique 'pinch' (dimpled) bottle, functioning as a perfume bottle or luxury miniature carafe.
The object features a stunning, handmade silver overlay (cagework) in a refined Chinese bamboo decor.
The bamboo stalks and leaves are rendered in silver with great detail and depth. At the bottom of the silver foot rim the bottle is clearly marked with the antique export mark "SILVER".
This mark is very characteristic of high-quality Chinese (early 20th century) and indicates a high silver content (at least .925 sterling or .950 silver).
The glass bottle has the characteristic dimpled sides, which make the silverwork look wonderfully three-dimensional. The neck is finished with a sleek silver mounting and a matching silver cap equipped with a fine pour/spout/applicator.
