Description from the seller
Davide Macullo architects: feeling space
Edited by Philip Jodidio
Includes special reversible cover/poster
This new book presents the Swiss studio Davide Macullo Architects. The studio’s work rests on the premise that architecture is the bridge between the spirit of a place and its future. Emotions are also a key element of these projects. The works presented are permeated by the fundamental, universal idea that the specific qualities of a place connect to psychology and the ability to perceive and assimilate spaces through the senses and the intellect. The analysis of these themes is expressed in sculptural, articulated forms, generated from the inside out, following the flow of the inhabitants. Each building responds to the place where it is located and seems to have been born from that site. From the architect’s earliest sketches it is evident how meanings, passion, and emotions pour into the buildings, generating tangible, everyday joy for those who inhabit them. With an introduction by the well-known writer Philip Jodidio, the volume includes photographs, drawings, and preparatory sketches.
Before founding his eponymous studio, Davide Macullo began his career with Mario Botta, where he worked on international projects for over 20 years. 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of Macullo’s first project, in Rossa, Switzerland, a house that already embodied the studio’s philosophy of drawing inspiration from the context. Almost three decades and 600 projects later, he returned to the same town with the colorful Swisshouse.
The volume is presented in overall very good condition. Dust jacket with light signs of use. Spine firmly bound. Interior pages clean with no creases or stains. Excellent collectible/reference copy.
