Description from the seller
Terri Weifenbach – Lana – Nazraeli Press – 2002
Lana is the third monograph by American photographer Terri Weifenbach, published by Nazraeli Press in 2002.
Photographed in a single location in Italy, the book brings together color images of flowers, plants, birds and other details of the natural environment. Working with shallow depth of field, saturated color and shifting planes of focus, Weifenbach transforms an ordinary landscape into a vivid and highly subjective visual world.
Across the sequence, sharply observed details emerge from blurred foregrounds and backgrounds, creating a sense of movement and instability. The photographs continue Weifenbach’s distinctive exploration of perception, memory and the experience of looking at nature, developed in her earlier books In Your Dreams and Hunter Green.
Published in a limited edition of 2,000 copies, Lana is one of Weifenbach’s important early monographs and a characteristic example of the highly personal color photography for which she is best known.
