Pierre d’Avesn - Vase - Glass

Pierre Girre (1901-1990), better known under the pseudonym Pierre d’Avesn, was the originator of numerous models of glass objects ordered and produced by French glassworks and crystal factories. René Lalique hired him at 14. He stayed there for 10 years in his company before going into business on his own. In Normandy, he worked from 1936 to 1940 for Verlys, the glassworks of the Andelys, where he created various shapes of vases and tableware in pressed-molded glass, decorated with geometric lines and stylized motifs, contributing to the rise of modern design and the democratization of the art of glass.
