Description from the seller
Industrial railway equipment from the early 1900s, from Italy, Province of Cuneo, from the famous Ceva-Ormea railway line in the Tanaro valley. Analyzing the logistical details legible on the labels ("Bagnasco", "Trappa", "M 13-14", "KM 25-34" Ormea etc.), the attribution of this splendid switchboard is fully confirmed: this is, in every respect, a magneto-powered railway telephone switchboard, originally in service along the historic Ceva-Ormea line, located in the Upper Tanaro Valley in the Province of Cuneo. The labels clearly refer to the stations and interlocking points of the railway line: Bagnasco: Official station of the Ceva-Ormea route. Trappa: Another historic stop and hamlet of the municipality of Garessio, on the same line. KM 25-34 / M 13-14: Kilometric indications and the block points or intermediate interlockings of the railway. The switchboards of this type (also known as switching tables for exclusive use in stations) were used by the station master or the block operator to coordinate train traffic, manage faults, or quickly communicate with the signalmen placed along the tracks. Two of the 24 switchboards can be removed and have been photographed; one at the top left is blocked; all the others, when the two bakelite knob levers are turned, rotate through the internal mechanism back to their original starting position. Three are missing, and opening them shows that inside each station or kilometer mark there is its own complex internal mechanism; in total 21 remain. The structure is very sound and does not present major aesthetic defects, only normal wear given age and use, as well as material. It will be packed carefully and shipped by tracked mail. I do not ship outside the EU. Please note: the photos are part of the description.
