Vintage Akai AA-1040
Akai AA-1040 is a fine receiver from the 1970s, built in the period when Akai was known for its solid construction and warm, musical sound. With its aluminum front, wooden housing and classic analog tuner it has exactly the look that vintage hi-fi enthusiasts are looking for.
In terms of sound the AA-1040 plays full and pleasant, with a nice balance between warmth and detail. Vocals sound natural, instruments have sufficient body and the power is more than adequate for most speakers from that period. The tuner also works excellently and makes this receiver a complete and versatile classic.
