Description from the seller
Very beautiful autograph letter signed by Amaury-Duval (1808-1885), French painter, pupil of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. He is best known for his portraits, his religious compositions and his mural decorations, characteristic of the 19th-century academic movement.
"I cannot tell you how touched I was by the article you kindly had published on my painting. The best encouragement I could receive was from you, Sir, and I needed it greatly this year, for one may work apart from any concern for success, aiming above all to satisfy oneself, yet one cannot help but regret that the efforts one has made pass entirely unnoticed."
Very good condition.
Note: exporting this document from France to a country outside the European Union requires an export license issued by the Ministry of Culture, a mandatory formality before any shipment. The shipping costs, fixed at 80 euros for these destinations, also cover the time spent on these administrative procedures. Please note that obtaining this license can take a long time (several months in general).
