Description from the seller
Beautifully Hand-Carved Jugendstil/ Art Nouveau Teak Wall Rack
In Excellent Condition – No Reserve
A beautifully hand-carved dark wooden wall rack in authentic Jugendstil style, dating from the late 19th/ early 20th century.
Crafted from solid teak wood with superb floral and geometric ornamentation, this rare tray shows the refined craftsmanship typical of the Asian colonies (likely Indonesia or Ceylon) where such decorative household items were produced for the Dutch and German markets around 1890–1910.
The design reflects the organic yet symmetrical aesthetic that defined the Jugendstil movement, emphasizing nature-inspired motifs and masterful hand carving. The detailed rosettes and fan-carved patterns catch the light wonderfully, highlighting the warm dark tones of the polished teak surface.
Fitted with original brass hanging eyes and a robust wooden frame — a wonderful combination of elegance and durability.
Dimensions: Height 19,5 x Width 50 cm x Depth 7,5 cm
Material: Dark Teak wood with brass hanging eyes
Condition: In excellent pre-loved condition, no discoloration, solid joints, waxed and polished, ready for use or display.
A true eye-catcher in your home or office — both decorative and functional, representing the craftsmanship of the colonial era.
