Description from the seller

A glass pane (plexiglass) from a British K6 telephone booth.
Origin: Guernsey (Channel Islands)
Estimated period: 1980-2020

A glass pane from a British K6 telephone booth.
Dimensions: 78 x 13.5 cm, thickness 0.3 cm
In excellent condition.
Material: Plexiglas.

Very rare glass pane from a K6 telephone booth in the UK.
This telephone box, the K6, was the iconic British red telephone box and had a white glass pane with black letters: "Telephone". Guernsey was the only place in the UK where the K6 telephone booth was entirely yellow in colour from 1951 to 2002. The Guernsey Telegraph company wanted the booths to stand out more in the landscape at night. Here a black glass pane with yellow lettering was used. The only one in the United Kingdom. From 2002 to 2025 the K6 telephone booths were blue-painted by another telephone company; "Sure". But the glass pane remained black with yellow lettering; "telephone". In 2025 the last telephone booth disappeared from St. Peter Port, Guernsey.
