Old typographic printing case – Vendôme bold, 14 point – Wood – France – 20th century
Description :
Authentic old wooden printing case, formerly used in a typography workshop for the storage and sorting of lead type.
This beautiful specimen still bears its original label “Vendôme bold, 14 point,” corresponding to the typeface that was once kept in this drawer.
The case features a particularly decorative composition with many compartments of different sizes. The fine wooden dividers and the irregular arrangement of the slots give it a lot of character.
The wood has a beautiful antique patina, with warm tones and signs of use coherent with its professional past.
The side metal handle is still present.
Today, this type of case makes a very handsome industrial decorative piece and can also be repurposed as a wall display case for miniatures, small collectibles, jewelry or curiosities.
The object has deliberately retained its antique character and the marks of its past use.
