Description from the seller
Lisi – Rare miniature sculpture in the shape of a snail in 800 silver
Detail and refined miniature sculpture depicting a snail, made in 800 silver by the Italian silversmith Lisi, known for collaboration with Buccellati.
The piece features extremely careful and naturalistic workmanship: the snail's body is finely textured to reproduce the surface of the animal, with incised and relief-work details, while the large shell is characterized by the typical spiral structure, created with soft yet well-defined volumes. The two antennae are also particularly successful, giving the figure a lively and realistic appearance.
The combination between the smooth, shiny shell surfaces and the more tactile finish of the body creates a pleasant contrast and highlights the quality of the execution.
On the base there are several hallmarks, including the silver standard “800”, the silversmith’s mark and the signature/marking “LISI”, all photographed in detail.
A small silver item with strong decorative character, suitable as a collector sculpture, ornament, or paperweight, particularly interesting for collectors of Italian silver and zoomorphic miniatures.
Silversmith: Lisi
Subject: snail
Material: 800 silver
Manufacture: Italian
Marks: 800, silversmith’s punch and LISI
Process: casting and relief work with naturalistic details
The piece is in good vintage condition, with normal signs of wear. It has not undergone aggressive polishing, thus preserving its original character.
Photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the workmanship, the state of preservation, and the hallmarks on the base.
