Important ensemble in dense carved and engraved wood, consisting of a cylindrical mortar resting on a flared base and its long matching pestle.
The wall of the mortar is rhythmically lined with numerous anthropomorphic figures sculpted in high relief, probably associated with the ancestral universe and the Dogon symbolic concepts related to fertility and grain.
