Centre desk in Luigi XV style, made of wood; estimated period around 1920–1940; origin Italy, Marche region.
Description from the seller
Center desk from the room in Louis XV / Barocchetto style – Presumably first half of the 20th century – From an old village pharmacy.
Fascinating center table or writing desk finished on all four sides, characterized by sinuous lines in Barocchetto / Louis XV style. According to family history and local memory, the piece has always been located inside the premises of an old village pharmacy, today closed; it is thus hypothesized that its historical use was as a representative or office desk within the business. The structure presents with an entirely curved profile and cabriole legs. The front is configured with three drawers, enriched by handles and by a central opening in bronze/brass alloy with asymmetric decorations in rocaille motifs. The top and fronts of the drawers show a walnut veneer, framed by fillets and marquetry-inlaid contrasting woods.
Visual analysis of the structure and internal construction details suggests, with high probability, that it is a refined historicist reproduction likely made between the 1920s and 1940s (early 20th century).
Technical Details:
Style: Louis XV / Italian Barocchetto
Estimated period: Probably around 1920-1940 (Twentieth century)
Conditions: The piece is structurally solid. It shows several signs of age consistent with the hypothesized era and with long use in a public/commercial setting. The hardware is period and retains its original patina. The item is sold by a private individual, in the state it is in, perfect for a conservative restoration aimed at highlighting its history.
Pickup location: Pesaro, Italy.
Assistance is offered to place the furniture onto the transport vehicle. It is advised to bring protective fabrics or blankets and ropes for securing during transport.
