Cigar box - Macassar Ebony

Rare and elegant desk piece forming a double cigarette dispenser, emblematic of the Art Deco period around 1930.

This high-end item is distinguished by its so-called 'triptych' architectural structure, entirely made of Macassar ebony veneer, an exotic precious wood sought after for its graphically contrasting zebra-like stripes.

The cabinetmaker performed precise work by laying the grain in perfect mirrored symmetry on the two lids.

A small patch of veneer is missing on the lid. The whole piece is in good condition, with only a few minor wear marks related to its age.
