Description from the seller

Regency / William IV Folding Table in Veneered Mahogany, Inlaid with Dark Wood, Early 19th Century - On Wheels

This listing offers a refined folding table in Regency/William IV style, dating from the early 19th century. This piece exemplifies the restrained elegance and functional British design of that period.

The table is crafted from high-quality mahogany, with a highly glossy flame veneer on the folding 'D'-shaped top. The surface is adorned with a slim dark perimeter inlay (likely ebony or faux ebony), which also runs along the edges of the frieze and the drawer.

Key Features:

Folding Top: The top folds in half, transforming a smaller gaming/serving table into a larger dining table.

Gate-Leg Mechanism: It has a hinged rear leg (gate-leg) that opens to provide solid support for the extended top.

Drawer: The frieze features a functional drawer with two elegant antique-brass drop handles and a matching brass keyhole escutcheon.

Legs: Four slender, squared legs, decorated with dark inlays and topped with original brass casters.

Shape: Rounded 'D'-shaped edges.

Conditions:

The item is in good vintage condition with signs of use consistent with age (over 200 years).

The top shows some surface scratches and small blemishes.

There are more specific wear marks, including a pronounced dent and an area of discoloration/faded veneer near the hinged edge.

The brass hinges are functional but show an aged patina and accumulated grime.

The drawer slides well. The casters are intact and functional.

Please carefully review the macro photos provided, which detail the condition and flaws. The table has an authentic patina and has not been heavily restored.

Use:

Perfect as a gaming table, tea table, dining table for small spaces, or as an accent piece in a hallway or living room.

Provenance: Private Italian collection.
