Description from the seller
For sale: a stunning and exceptionally large set of no fewer than 9 antique Victorian custard/punch glasses on a stem, dating from approximately 1830–1870. These hand-blown glasses are distinguished by an elegant handle and a beautifully faceted bowl and foot. Originally, these glasses were used in 19th‑century England as 'custard cups' for luxury desserts or warm punch. Today they are versatile for amuse-bouches, starters, desserts, espresso, or a digestif during a chic dinner, and they make a atmospheric centerpiece on any beautifully set table. Authenticity is confirmed by the manually polished pontil mark (ground pontil) on the underside of the foot, proving that each glass was mouth-blown by hand. The set is in exceptionally good, undamaged antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or clouding. A unique find for the antique glass collector. Pickup is preferred due to fragility and historical value; shipping is possible at the buyer's expense and risk, with the set being carefully and heavily wrapped in bubble wrap."
