A delightful antique wooden box camera, measuring circa 25 x 19,5 x 10,5cm when closed and weighing 2469g together with all the plates. Marked to the front with manufacturer´s plaque of Schaap & Co. Camera Fabriek, Amsterdam.
In the year 1897 the company Schaap & Co was founded in Amsterdam by F. Schaap and W. Brandsma. At an auction they bought the technical inventory of Loman & Co (later Holst). Between 1897 and 1907 they produced Hollandse Reflex cameras and Brandsma developed the foldable Reflex camera. Also a stereo camera was manufactured according to a design by Albada. Schaap left the company in 1907 and Schaap & Co remained in business until 1941.
Condition Very good, small chip to the wood at the underside, see pictures, no further significant damages or repairs. The harmonica is in condition, as are seemingly all other components.
