Ntomo Mask - Bamana - Mali - Wood - 65cm.

Large Ntomo mask with a female figure seated on top of the head.
Used during initiation rituals for youths in the Bamana society.
Mask with seven branches, frontal protuberance, round eyes, a long ridge nose and a slightly open mouth. The ears are rounded and pierced.
Scarifications on the forehead.
Hard wood and very heavy
Dark patina. Good condition.
Origin: Bougouni region.

Grand masque Ntomo avec personnage féminin posé sur le haut  de la tête.
Utilisé lors de rituels d'initiation des jeunes dans la société Bamana.
Masque à 7 branches, protubérance frontale, des yeux ronds, un long nez en arête et une  bouche entrouverte. Les oreilles sont arrondies et percées.
Scarifications sur le front.
Bois dur et trés lourd
Patine sombre. Bon état.
Provient de la région de Bougouni.
