Neogothic bronze display stand dating to 1850–1900, in a gold-bronze finish, 31 cm high, 15 cm wide and 5 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of age, originating from Spain.
Description from the seller
It is a display stand that fully embodies the nineteenth-century Neo-Gothic spirit, that romantic fascination with the Middle Ages that transformed architecture, furnishings, and liturgical objects into genuine exercises in historical imagination. Here, the gilded bronze becomes an almost architectural material: it not only supports but builds a small sacred stage where every line, every arch, and every motif seems to dialogue with the medieval temples that inspired the artisans of the time.
The structure rises like a micro Gothic architecture, with pointed arches, circular tracery, and stylized columns that recall the cloisters and altarpieces of the thirteenth century reinterpreted with the decorative sensibility of the nineteenth century. The gold, warm and deep, underscores the solemnity of the ensemble and lends it a ceremonial shine that turns the display stand into an object of immediate presence.
The front panel, richly ornamented, unfolds a repertoire of geometric and floral motifs that evoke the work of medieval carvers, but with a more polished and regular execution, typical of historicist workshops. The upper part, conceived to hold a cross or a saint’s figure, acts as a small symbolic throne: elevated, protected by its architecture, and surrounded by an aura of spiritual magnificence.
The piece, as a whole, conveys devotion, theatricality, and craftsmanship, uniting medieval nostalgia with the technical refinement of the nineteenth century. It is an object designed to stand out, to preside over a space, to become the focal point of a domestic altar or a collection of sacred art.
Certified shipping and careful packing.
