Description from the seller
No reserve price!
This piece was sculpted by the artist (Jean-Pierre Mich, 1871–1932), manufactured around 1900.
The signature on the piece belongs to Jean Mich (Jean-Pierre Mich, 1871–1932), a renowned Luxembourgish sculptor and designer.
He studied at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Academy of Munich.
Although today he is very famous for his Orientalist sculptures and busts created from his travels to China (such as the famous bust of the cook "Chi-Fan"), Mich also created beautiful decorative utilitarian objects at the height of the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil movement.
The piece dates from approximately 1900 (between 1895 and 1905). This period corresponds to the golden age of Art Nouveau in Europe, characterized precisely by fluid leaf-shaped designs and the feminine silhouette with organic hair sculpted in metal.
It is in excellent condition; the top part seems to have been polished, hence it is very clean and bright compared to the bottom part.
