Antique hand‑powered watchmaker's lathe from Denmark, dating to 1910–1920, made of brass and steel on a solid wooden base in an industrial design style.
Description from the seller
Antique hand-driven lathe for watchmakers - Finishing/Topping Tool
Heirloom from an uncle who was a jeweler in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A remarkable old precision lathe. Heavily built in brass and steel on a solid wooden base, with a large flywheel, belt drive, and various fine mechanical adjustments.
The item comes from Danish family ownership. I have not been able to find a manufacturer or maker's brand, despite careful searching of the visible parts and the underside. It is possible that a brand is hidden or present only very small, but I cannot confirm this.
I myself have no technical knowledge of this type of equipment and therefore cannot assess whether all original parts are present or whether it functions completely. For that reason, many detailed photos have deliberately been added. As far as is visible, nothing appears to be broken.
The upper metal section can tilt/move relative to the wooden base. I do not know whether this is part of the original construction or if it would normally be fixed, and I therefore state this explicitly.
Nice original patina and signs of use appropriate to age. Probably dating from around 1900.
