Tile - 1650-1700 - 17th-century Delft tile

A beautiful and authentic Delft wall tile from the Dutch Golden Age (c. 1640–1660). This hand-painted tile is decorated with a beautifully stylized geometric carnation motif in the iconic Delft blue. This type of floral motif is highly sought after among collectors of early Dutch tin-glazed ware. The back shows the characteristic thick, coarse, sandy-colored clay shard that is typical of 17th-century production techniques. The front features a beautiful, natural craquelé in the tin glaze.
