Art Deco glass ensemble from circa 1930–1940, Czech origin, comprising seven blue and gold pieces including two perfume bottles with stoppers, a spray atomiser, a circular ring holder and a rectangular lobed dish, all in pressed glass with geometric facets, 18.5 cm high, 6.6 cm wide, 18.5 cm deep, total weight 800 g.
Description from the seller
Refined Art Deco ensemble composed of two perfume bottles with their stoppers, a spray/atomizer, a ring tray, and a rectangular tray, made of pressed transparent glass with a slightly blue tint, enhanced by deep cobalt blue tones. The geometric shapes, beveled facets, sharp edges, and color contrasts give the whole a aesthetics typical of bottle-making in Central Europe during the interwar period. The perfect coherence of the five pieces suggests a vanity set designed as a decorative ensemble.
The two bottles feature trapezoidal bodies with thick walls, structured by broad beveled facets. Their faceted stoppers, with ovoïd shapes reminiscent of precious stones, are the most spectacular elements. The spray repeats this architecture and is completed by an elegant gold-colored metal mechanism with a curved nozzle and a long dip tube. The circular ring tray and the beveled rectangular tray reuse the same pale blue and cobalt blue palette, creating a striking visual unity. The transparency of the glass and the thickness of the different parts produce subtle play of light.
The ensemble is overall in good condition considering its age. The large perfume bottle shows a loss at the tip of its stopper. The intermediate perfume bottle has two small chips on the rim. The ring tray and the tray show faint signs of wear in the form of very small nicks, noted here in full transparency. The spray retains its mechanism as well as its long dip tube. The stopper of the large perfume bottle protrudes slightly from the neck. These marks remain compatible with a decorative presentation of the ensemble.
The design allows us to place these pieces with caution in the production of Czechoslovak pressed glass, probably around 1930–1940. The beveled facets, the sharp edges, the faceted stoppers, and the combination of pale blue glass with cobalt perfectly match the Art Deco vocabulary developed by Central European glassworks. In the absence of a mark allowing precise identification of the manufacturer, attribution remains prudent. Nevertheless, this ensemble perfectly illustrates the refinement of Art Deco toilet requisites, where utilitarian objects become true decorative elements.
Average dimensions are:
- Height: 18.5 centimeters,
- Width: 6.6 centimeters,
- Total weight of the set: 800 grams.
The two perfume bottles, their stoppers, the spray, the ring tray, and the tray will be carefully packed and shipped promptly in a secure manner. In-store pickup and grouped delivery are available. The photos are part of the description.
