Neo‑Rococo porcelain perfume bottle from Paris by Jacob Petit (c. 1830–1850), with an asymmetric cut body, emerald‑green enamel and pink base, pagoda‑shaped cap, marked JP on the base, 17 cm high, 7.5 cm wide and 5 cm deep, in very good condition with light signs of age.
Description from the seller
Most splendid Neo-Rococo perfume bottle in Paris porcelain – Jacob Petit (1796–1868).
Perfume bottle (or essences bottle) in molded Paris porcelain, relief-carved and richly decorated with polychromy and gold. Body of a cut, asymmetric shape inspired by Rococo Revival, featuring on both faces central panels outlined by volutes and vegetal motifs (rocaille) highlighted with burnished gold. Inside the cartouches, there is fine hand-painted floral bouquet with multicolored roses and foliage. The background decorated with enamel in an intense emerald green, contrasting with the base in a pinkish tone. It retains its original pinnacled/pagoda-style lid with identical geometric and gilded decoration.
19th Century (c. 1830–1850), Louis-Philippe / French Restoration period.
Marked on the base, in blue under the glaze, with the handwritten monogram "JP" (referring to Jacob Petit).
It is indeed in very good condition; it was highly valued.
