Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A group of four Bronze Age bronze arrowheads (circa 1200–600 BC), three with triangular blades and downward barbs and one rhomboid blade, each with a short stem and tang for fitting to a wooden shaft, with patination and earthly encrustations and edge chips, dimensions about 5.6–8.9 cm long and 1.5–2.1 cm wide; authentic/original and in good condition.
Description from the seller
A group of four Bronze Age bronze arrowheads. Three arrowheads feature a triangular blade with sharp, downward angled barbs. One arrowhead features a rhomboid shape and is flat with a slight midrib. Beneath, a short stem leads to a narrow tang for fitting into a wooden shaft. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Chips to the edges of the blades and barbs.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 5.6-8.9cm x W 1.5-2.1cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
