Description from the seller
It is a late-19th-century centerpiece that blends the nobility of brass with the delicacy of hand-cut crystal, a piece that breathes that historicist refinement typical of the era and, at the same time, reveals the influence of the Louis XVI style.
The metal framework, warm and slightly patinated, features at its center a heraldic detail that acts as a visual emblem: a motif that lends solemnity and recalls the French decorative tradition reinterpreted by European workshops of the 19th century. The top handle, elegant and well-proportioned, completes the silhouette with a ceremonial air, as if the piece were designed to preside over a formal table.
The crystal bowl is the true protagonist. Hand-cut with garland motifs, it unfolds a repertoire of curves, leaves, and small ribbons that evoke the Neoclassical ornamentation of Louis XVI. The glasswork —deep, clear, regular— recalls the quality of French manufactories, especially those that inspired Baccarat’s decorative language: impeccable transparency, precise cuts, and a play of light that transforms the object according to the angle.
Taken together, it is a centerpiece that unites elegance, craftsmanship, and symbolism, perfect as a decorative piece, for a collection, or as a historical accent in a contemporary interior.
