- Grade: MS65 (NGC).
Silver 20 Kopeks coin minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, in the year of the start of World War I. The obverse features the two-headed Russian imperial eagle crowned, with scepter and globe, bearing the Grand Shield of the Empire surrounded by territorial shields, in a heraldic composition of extraordinary richness and great definition. The reverse shows the denomination and date in the center, crowned by the imperial crown and framed by an elegant open crown of laurel and oak branches joined by a ribbon at the bottom. The specimen preserves an intense original mint lustre, with fully defined reliefs and clean fields that enhance the quality of the engraving, presenting only minor surface marks consistent with the outstanding MS65 rating awarded by NGC. This issue belongs to the last silver strikes of the Russian Empire before the profound political and economic changes that definitively transformed the country after the Great War and the 1917 Revolution.
