SLOVAKIA. Kremnica. 200 Korún. 1998.
Value: 200 Korún.
Year: 1998.
Inscriptions: Obverse: SLOVENSKÁ NÁRODNÁ GALÉRIA · 1948 · 1998. Reverse: SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA · 200 Korún · 1998.
Grade: MS68 (PCGS).
A 200-Korún silver commemorative coin issued in 1998 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Slovak National Gallery, the main institution dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the country’s artistic heritage. The obverse features a composition based on a sculptural ensemble and allegorical figures related to the arts, accompanied by the institution’s inscription and the dates 1948–1998. The reverse shows a reproduction of a medieval sacred artwork belonging to Slovak cultural heritage, depicting a religious scene of great iconographic richness and notable sculptural detail, alongside the national coat of arms and the face value. The design stands out for the complexity of its reliefs, the depth of the volumes, and the careful adaptation of artistic motifs to the numismatic format. The fields present an intense original luster with clean and highly reflective surfaces. The outstanding MS68 rating awarded by PCGS certifies an almost pristine specimen, with minimal defects visible under magnification, excellent mint quality, and extraordinary preservation that enhances all the details of this distinguished Slovak cultural issue.
