Description from the seller

Rare Antique United Kingdom of the Netherlands / Belgian Empire Silver Salt Cellar (Vermeil) – 1814-1831

An exceptional and highly collectible antique silver master salt cellar crafted in the pure Neoclassical / Empire style during the historic United Kingdom of the Netherlands period (incorporating present-day Belgium). This piece dates strictly between 1814 and 1831.This elegant boat-shaped table piece features a finely fluted body standing on an oval pedestal base. The sides are adorned with two beautifully sculpted, high-relief lion head masks holding movable ring handles. The vessel is meticulously fully hallmarked with three official stamps:
1. The Official Base Guarantee Mark: A square punch on the lower rim featuring three stylized leaves and the number "2", certifying the official 2nd standard silver purity (833/1000) - see 5 photos
2. The Maker’s Mark: A horizontal lozenge (diamond) containing the maker's letter "V", driven directly into the lower patterned border. - see 5 photos
3. The Official Upper Rim Guarantee Mark: A highly distinct small circular punch located at the center of the upper rim, featuring three stylized leaves and the number "2". - see 6 photos

Technical Specifications: Silver Purity 833, Height: 7.5 cm., Length: 9.2 cm., Width: 4.3 cm. Total Weight: 62.5 g
