Silver 15 Kopeks coins minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, in the first year of Russia's involvement in World War I. The obverse features the crowned imperial double-headed eagle, with scepter and orb, bearing the grand shield of the Empire and territorial shields on the wings, a heraldic composition of notable richness and artistic balance. The reverse shows the denomination and the date under the imperial crown, surrounded by an elegant open crown of laurel and oak branches tied together by a bow at the bottom, following the characteristic design of the era’s Russian divisionary coinage. This specimen retains an original bright lustre with soft silvery tones, well-defined reliefs and homogeneous fields, showing light contact marks consistent with the MS62 grade awarded by NGC. It is a representative issue of the last silver strikes produced in Saint Petersburg before the profound political and monetary transformations that led to the end of the Russian Empire in 1917.
