Description from the seller
Thonet-inspired bistro chair in steam-bent beech wood, early 20th century.
Refined bistro chair in steam-bent beech wood, attributable to the Central European cabinetmaking tradition of the early twentieth century and clearly inspired by the classics of Thonet's stylistic dictates. The frame is defined by a concave backrest with a shaped upper crossbar and three vertical slats, flanked by sinuous lateral reinforcing arches fixed to the uprights with original hardware featuring slotted screws. The seat, enclosed within a circular frame, houses a pressed-wood panel bearing a sober vegetal decoration in relief imprint. The four-legged base with circular section is stabilized by a continuous arched crossbar.
The furniture piece remains in excellent structural integrity, enriched by an intense patina of age. The surface shows diffuse and fascinating historical-functional wear, concentrated on the seating plane where the lightening of the dark tone reveals the wood grain, confirming the absolute authenticity of the specimen."} } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } }
