This aesthetic restoration was carried out by a professional lacquer specialist. The process involved the meticulous stripping of the original chrome on each component, followed by applying several coats of paint (in homage to the limited edition "Safari"). The finish consists of a premium baked-on enamel coating, applied in four thin layers to ensure exceptional durability as well as increased resistance to chips and flaking.
This meticulous artisanal process ensures great longevity while preventing oxidation and deterioration of the paint. The glossy Leica-lacquer finish is renowned for its complexity and the demands it imposes; it gives the camera a unique and striking aesthetic. With prolonged use, the body will gradually develop a "brassing" effect (appearance of underlying metal), creating a rich and beautiful patina that embodies the classic charm of a Leica that has seen use.
The device is in excellent condition and perfectly functional, with an impeccable finish. All components have been tested; the body is in very good condition and shutter speeds are precise. The rangefinder works correctly and the shutter curtains are perfectly flat and in excellent condition. The viewfinder has undergone professional servicing: it is bright and clear, enabling fast and accurate focusing thanks to the yellow rangefinder patch.
