A complete collection of 18 miniature pewter artefacts (bottles and flasks) from the 1940s–1950s, with a walnut wood and glass display case, made in France in an Art Nouveau style, with individual pieces featuring varied reliefs and removable caps, and a total weight of about 3.5 kg.
Description from the seller
Splendid, complete thematic collection consisting of 18 miniature vials and flasks in art pewter (étain d'art), produced by the famous French manufactory Les Nains in the second half of the 20th century. Each piece in the collection features shapes, embossed decorations, and different engravings that reproduce the history and evolution of historic travel, liturgical, or perfume models from the Baroque and Georgian eras. The bottles bear mixed years engraved on the front (including reproductions of models from 1740, 1846, and 1890) to narrate the different eras. The miniatures are independent pieces, fitted with a functioning screw cap, and are easily removable from the display stand. On the base and on the metallic friezes are the brand marks of the foundry: the heraldic stamp Les Nains topped by a crown and the inscription "ÉTAIN 95%", certifying a pure tin alloy of high quality, lead-free. The lot includes the original dark solid wood hanging display case enriched by a decorative upper pediment, pewter worked corner brackets, and a protective sliding front glass. Display case dimensions: 43.5 cm (Width) x 31 cm (Height) x 7 cm (Depth). Miniature dimensions: mixed and variable depending on model (Height about 6 to 7 cm / Base about 4 to 5 cm). Total weight of the lot: 3500 grams (3.5 kg). Shipping method: Tracked and insured shipment via international express courier. The item will be packed with the utmost care (ample bubble wrap and reinforced cardboard) to protect the integrity of the glass and wood. Conditions: Excellent vintage-conservational condition. Solid wood structure and the original pewter metal patina. Please view carefully the photographic gallery for all details of the hallmarks and finishes.
