This sample is a magnificent cluster of orange calcite on a basalt matrix, originating from Poland.
This specific find has become a classic among mineral collectors thanks to the very strong visual contrast between the small scalenohedral crystals colored mandarin orange/saturated orange and the dark volcanic rock beneath. Structure: micro-crystal needle-like and scalenohedral (commonly defined as "dogtooth") creating a glittering surface similar to a druse. Fluorescence: Under a UV lamp (both short- and long-wave), this Polish calcite reacts spectacularly, emitting a strong white-orange fluorescence.
