Nightstand - Walnut, Marble - Circa 1880

Table bedside, nicknamed "somno" or toilet furniture
Napoleon III era, end of the 19th century, around 1870-1885

In walnut and figured walnut veneer moulding, opening by a drawer in the frieze and a lower door revealing an interior compartment lined with white earthenware intended to receive a chamber pot or a basin. A spacer forming a shelf, supported by four turned and fluted columns with a decoration of water leaves. Front adorned with a carved relief panel depicting a flowering vase framed by acanthus scrolls. Red veined marble top. Rests on turned feet.
