A pair of early 20th‑century solid wood stools in antique rural style.
Description from the seller
Fascinating and rare pair of rustic solid wood stools, dating from the late 18th to the 19th century. This pair is distinguished by extraordinary pre-industrial artisanal craftsmanship, typical of the high tradition of Arte Povera and European rural furniture.
Anatomical seat: The seats feature a distinctive and pronounced concave curvature (saddle-style), hand-carved to ensure maximum comfort.
Handmade workmanship: The upper surface reveals the splendid and authentic irregularities left by manual planing of the era, an unmistakable sign of ancient, non-serial production.
Patina and material: Made of hard, dense wood with pronounced grain. The wood has developed over time a warm, deep patina rich in nuances, impossible to replicate artificially. The edges are gently chamfered by time and centuries of use.
Structure: A solid minimalist and functional line, held up by four legs with a geometrically shaped slightly flared section to ensure stability.
Condition: The stools are in good overall condition. Structurally stable, they show minor signs of wear due to time that attest to their authenticity and enhance the historical charm of the piece. Ready to be incorporated into interiors of design, both classical and contemporary.
