Description from the seller
Minolta XE with MC Rokkor-PG 50mm f/1.4, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Minolta XE (1974) came out of Minolta's collaboration with Leitz — the same project that produced the Leica R3 — and it shows: the Copal Leitz Minolta vertical metal shutter is famously smooth, and the film advance is often called the silkiest of any 35mm SLR. Aperture-priority automatic exposure and full manual control sit behind classic, uncluttered handling. Offered here with the MC Rokkor-PG 50mm f/1.4, the seven-element version of Minolta's fast standard lens, well regarded for its rendering wide open.
Mount & Compatibility
This lens uses the Minolta SR mount (MC/MD series) and is a manual-focus lens for Minolta manual-focus film SLRs (SR-T, X-700, XD, etc.).
Note: The Minolta SR (MC/MD) mount is NOT the same as the later Minolta/Sony A autofocus mount and will not fit those bodies. On mirrorless it can be used with an MD-to-mirrorless adapter.
Condition: Used — Excellent
Pre-owned, heavy signs of use
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Shows heavy signs of use consistent with age. Please check the photos.
Optical Condition
Haze: No
Fungus: No
Scratch: No
Balsam separation: No
Dust: Minimal — the optics are very clear
Functional
The camera powers on and operates properly.
The light seals (foam) have been replaced, and the viewfinder and lens have been cleaned internally.
Note on the meter: it reads over-sensitively. Setting the film speed dial to ASA 12 and applying -2 exposure compensation gives the equivalent of ISO 100 — we have confirmed this ourselves, and the camera is entirely usable that way.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1 s — measured 1/1.1 s (approx. 0.1 stop fast)
- 1/60 — measured 1/74 s (approx. 0.3 stop fast)
- 1/1000 — measured 1/1480 s (approx. 0.6 stop fast)
- Curtain travel difference: -1.2ms
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Bundled Items
Camera with the MC Rokkor-PG 50mm f/1.4 lens as shown. Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
Important Notes for Used Items
