Description from the seller

Set of four major Sotheby’s catalogues devoted to African and Oceanic Arts, corresponding to sales held in Paris between 2010 and 2013.

The lot includes:
Arts of Africa and Oceania, Paris, 30 November 2010
A New York Collection – Arts of Africa, Paris, 30 November 2010
Arts of Africa and Oceania, Paris, 12 December 2012
Collection Françoise et Jean Corlay – Arts of Africa, Paris, 18 June 2013

Catalogues richly illustrated presenting major works of African art from renowned collections, including sales featuring the famous Fang head from the Paul Guillaume collection and Luba works attributed to the Master of Buli.

The entries include detailed descriptions, provenances, bibliographic references and expert commentary, accompanied by numerous full-page photographs.

A particularly interesting set as documentation and reference works for collectors, enthusiasts and professionals of African arts. The quality of the photographs and the entries also helps train the eye, notably in observing styles, patinas, techniques and attribution criteria, making these catalogues valuable tools to deepen one’s knowledge of African arts.

Good to very good overall condition. Some light signs of use, scratches and small marks on the covers and edges, visible in the photographs.
