Three-seat Sesann sofa in brown Moro leather, designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina in Italy circa 1970, with a visible chromed tubular frame, original leather, dimensions 240 x 100 x 70 cm, weight 60 kg, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Splendid Sesann 3-seat sofa model in dark brown 'testa di moro' leather
It is a first-generation Sesann three-seat sofa, designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina, Italy, around 1970.
The Sesann is famous for its sculptural silhouette and for its characteristic exposed chrome tubular frame, which elegantly wraps the generously padded upholstery.
It is upholstered in a splendid original-era 'pelle fiore' leather in the testa di moro color.
Launched by Cassina in 1969, the Sesann collection included a lounge chair, a two-seat sofa, a three-seat sofa, and a coffee table.
Its innovative combination of an exposed steel frame and voluminous polyurethane foam cushions established the series as one of the most representative icons of postwar Italian design.
Overall the sofa is in excellent condition; the leather has no tears or rips, normal signs of wear with time and some areas a little more discolored on the left armrest, but the padding remains excellent and the frame is perfectly intact; it also still bears the Cassina mark under the shell.
Finding an original period sofa with its original leather in these conditions would be virtually impossible to find on the market today.
Published in major design magazines, it is an icon of Italian design and a furnishing and investment piece, being also a first production.
Measurements: L 240 x D 100 x H 70 cm
If shipping is required, it will be carefully packed and shipped with a shipment/tracking number.
