Jan Hulsker is one of the most highly regarded Van Gogh experts. Particularly regarding the chronology of everything Vincent van Gogh painted, drew and wrote about, he is the authority. 'The New Complete Van Gogh' is the revised version of 'Van Gogh and his Road', of which the Dutch edition appeared in 1977 at Meulenhoff and the English translation in 1980 at Harry N. Abrams). This third edition contains the complete work chronologically, including graphic works and sketches from letters. In the Appendix there are, among other things, a completely new chapter on early works, a concise biography, a bibliography, a list of references to works in the letters and a concordance to the numbering of J.-B. de La Faille's Catalogue Raisonné.
