Philips portable tube radio - LX 444AB 1954 - brown bakelite.
This (more luxurious) version features a magic eye DM71; the standard version does not have one.
The bakelite case is in very good condition, no cracks or splits, also the scale plate is 100% intact - knobs, electronics, etc. all original - only the plug has been replaced.
The radio has 3 wavelength ranges namely Long, Medium and Short and has a switchable option between battery or mains operation; but since the 67.5V anode battery has not been available for a long time, only the mains function remains - 110/115 and 220V AC.
Radio has been tested - powers on, but only emits noise/crackling on Medium Wave, Long and Short Wave remain silent; something for a techie to fix?
Dimensions: 26x24x13 cm - Weight: 4500 grams.
In the back panel is a built-in room antenna, and there is also a fold-out wire antenna.
There is also a connection for an external antenna and grounding.
This radio was available in the colors Brown, Green, Red, White and Blue, very "modern" for its time.
Only the brown version is made of bakelite; the other colors are made of plastic.
