Coco Chanel-Inspired Gilt Wheat Sheaf Chandelier

A truly striking and highly decorative vintage gilt metal chandelier/light fitting, beautifully designed in the form of an abundant sheaf of wheat.

The design is strongly inspired by the iconic wheat motif associated with Coco Chanel, who regarded the wheat sheaf as a symbol of luck, prosperity and abundance. Wheat was a recurring and much-loved motif throughout Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment at 31 Rue Cambon, where she displayed gilded wheat designs and objects, including the famous wheat-sheaf table created by goldsmith Robert Goossens. This fabulous light captures that same elegant Parisian, Chanel-inspired aesthetic, with numerous finely modelled wheat ears, sweeping leaves and curling foliage radiating from the central stem. The aged gilt/gold finish gives the piece a wonderful warmth and character.

Three gracefully curved arms extend from the central wheat arrangement, each supporting a candle-style light with decorative drip-effect sleeves and foliate candle trays. The combination of wheat sheaves, flowing leaves and gilded metal creates a particularly sophisticated French decorative / Hollywood Regency-inspired look.

A beautiful statement piece with plenty of presence, ideal for a period property, country house, elegant hallway, dining room, bedroom or eclectic interior.
