Antique silver match safe (vesta case) with richly embossed historicist floral decoration and cartouche.

The piece bears two import hallmarks documenting its international history:
-Vienna import mark (1872–1902)
-French import mark “charançon” (weevil) guaranteeing 800 silver

Although no original maker’s mark is present, the 800 silver standard, style and construction strongly suggest a German export piece, most likely from the Hanau region, known for producing historicist silver objects for export in the late 19th century.
