Description from the seller
Description
For sale is the exceptional "Excalibur" backgammon set from Franklin Mint, dating from 1986, in a superbly preserved condition.
The set is complete: all 30 playing medals, all dice, both dice cups, and the other game accessories are present. Notably, the condition of the playing medals: all 30 medals are still individually sealed in their original packaging and have never been used to play.
The elaborately designed playing medals feature famous figures from the Arthurian and Excalibur legend. The two player sides are differently executed—gold- and silver-colored designs. The figures also include the corresponding original cards with information about the depicted characters.
The original papers from Franklin Mint are also preserved and part of the offer.
The large backgammon board is of high quality and finely crafted. When closed it measures approximately 55 × 43 × 7 cm. Despite its age of around 40 years, the entire set is in an exceptionally well-kept condition. It has been carefully stored for many years.
Included are:
* Franklin Mint "Excalibur" Backgammon board
* all 30 playing medals – still in original seals
* both dice cups
* all dice that belong to the game
* character cards for the figures
* original papers from Franklin Mint
The game itself is therefore complete. Regarding the historical original papers, it is expressly stated that the pictured or existing original documents are part of the scope of delivery; there is no statement about which documents Franklin Mint originally delivered in total.
Due to its age, minor storage or aging traces may be present. The exact condition is documented in the photos; these are part of the description.
An exceptional collectible for Franklin Mint collectors, backgammon enthusiasts, and collectors of Arthurian/Excalibur lore. In particular, the complete set of 30 still originally sealed playing medals sets this exemplar apart from many used sets offered today.
Private sale from long-standing private ownership.
