[Tested / Practical] Asahi Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumar Twin Set: 55mm & 200mm

■ Overview

This is a practical twin lens set of the famous Asahi Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumar series (M42 mount).

Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55mm f/1.8 (Serial: 5347086, originally released around 1971)

Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 200mm f/4 (Serial: 7166955, originally released around 1971)

Both lenses have been practically tested on a digital mirrorless camera (Sony NEX-3) with an M42 adapter and serve perfectly as capable practical shooters.

■ Condition (SMC Takumar 55mm f/1.8)

・Appearance: Practical Condition
There are some scratches and paint peeling in places due to age, but overall it is relatively clean. The lens barrel still maintains a good gloss.

・Optics: Good Practical Condition
No fungus and no haze that would affect the images. There is some dust inside, but it does NOT affect the shooting results at all. It passes perfectly as a practical lens.

・Functional: Good Working Order
The helicoid (focus ring) and aperture ring operate smoothly.
The aperture blades are clean and snappy without any oil.

■ Condition (SMC Takumar 200mm f/4)

・Appearance: Very Good Vintage Condition
There are some minor scratches and scuffs from normal use, but overall it is very clean and maintains a good appearance. There are no major dents or heavy damages.
Please carefully review the attached photos to check the exact cosmetic condition.

・Optics: EXCELLENT for Shooting
No fungus and no haze. The glass is very clear and maintains excellent transparency.
There is some normal dust inside, which is typical for a vintage lens of this age. However, I have practically tested this lens on a digital mirrorless camera (Sony NEX-3), and I can assure you that this dust does NOT affect the final images at all. It delivers beautiful, sharp results.

・Functional: Good Working Order
The helicoid (focus ring) moves smoothly without any issues.
The aperture ring works perfectly and smoothly.
The aperture blades are clean, snappy, and work perfectly.
