Wonderful Art Nouveau vase, made by Victor Saglier. The vase features an oval body slightly flattened at the sides, crafted in amber-colored granulated glass and decorations made with gilded bronze or ormolu, inspired by nature and typical of Art Nouveau. At the top, the decoration sits in a metal band where different vegetal motifs are engraved. At the bottom, the piece has a base with reliefs of leaves, branches and lilies. The Saglier signature, composed of the artist’s initials and a small boat, is engraved on the base of the piece.

Victor Saglier (1809-1894)

Renowned French goldsmith and ceramic artist who developed his artistic career in the late 19th century. His pieces are a combination of glass and metals that allowed him to create vegetal and fantastical motifs typical of Art Nouveau. He worked with artists such as Louis Majorelle and Emile Gallé.
