Description from the seller
Fine Italian-made vintage centerpiece / fruit-stand, realized by the renowned Argenteria De Vecchi of Milan (historic factory mark 665 MI impressed under the base). The piece stands out for its superb craftsmanship and refined neobarocco taste, typical of the great Milanese silversmithing tradition of the mid-20th century.
Features and Construction:
Base Oval Polished: In solid silver with 800 hallmark, embellished along the edge by a laurel leaf-decorated garland.
Figurative Supports: Four splendid feet formed in the shape of heraldic/delicate dolphins finely chased in detail of the scales. The feet are equipped with original threaded pins perfectly functioning for structural mounting.
Upper Bowl: In heavy hand-cut crystal with an elegant spiral (tortiglione) motif and starry bottom.
Dimensions and Weight:
Overall height: approximately 15.5 cm
Crystal bowl length: approximately 23.5 cm
Oval silver base dimensions: approximately 19 cm x 13 cm
Total weight of the object: 1,119 g (Weight of the silver base alone: 133 g)
Estimated total weight of the silver component: approximately 230 - 250 g
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition overall. The crystal is completely intact, without chips, cracks, or crazing. The silver structure is solid, with fluid threaded pins securing the assembly.
Transparency note: The natural patina of silver over time is present, imperceptible micro-scratches from cleaning, and a few small oxidation spots (pitting) on the mirrored surface of the oval base, as clearly shown in the macro detail photos.
