Description from the seller
The camera shown in the first two images is the Olympus 35 ECR, a classic compact 35mm rangefinder camera released in the early 1970s. The third image shows a vintage electronic flash designed to be mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
Main features of the Olympus 35 ECR
Lens: Fixed E.Zuiko 42mm f/2.8, known for excellent sharpness and vibrant colors.
Focusing: Coupled rangefinder system, allowing precise manual focusing by overlaying two images in the viewfinder.
Exposure: Fully automatic and electronically controlled via a CdS cell. The Seiko ESF shutter ranges from 4 seconds to 1/800s
Important operating details
Battery dependency: Unlike models like the popular Olympus Trip 35 (which uses a selenium cell and runs without batteries), the Olympus 35 ECR necessarily requires batteries to fire the shutter.
Challenge of current batteries: Originally, it used two mercury RM-640 1.35V batteries, now prohibited for environmental reasons. To make it work today, photographers typically use adapters for modern batteries (such as two zinc-air 1.4V batteries or LR44/SR44 batteries with ISO setting compensation on the camera).
The image shows the front perspective of the same analogue accessory: it is the Olympus PS 100 electronic flash. Launched in the early 1970s, this was the first compact electronic flash model developed by Olympus. It was designed to accompany the brand’s range of rangefinder and compact cameras at the time, such as the Olympus Trip 35, the Olympus 35 series (ECR, RC, SP, DC) and the half-frame Olympus Pen EE-3.
Equipment details:
Hot Shoe connection: The black lower base has the standard central contact to fire in sync with the camera’s shutter.
Xenon lamp: The right-hand half features the reflector and the xenon discharge tube that emits the flash light.
